Activity of RNA-binding proteins in digestive muscleDrapeau Français

We recently identified RBPMS2 (for RNA-Binding Protein for Multiple Splicing-2), a member of the RNA Recognition Motif (RRM) protein family, as an early marker of determined SMC precursors. RBPMS2 was showed to positively regulate NOGGIN (the major inhibitor of the BMP pathway) mRNA level, through its capacity to form a common RNA-protein complex protéine (Notarnicola et al., Gastroenterology 2012), thus inhibiting the BMP signaling équipe 4 theme 1activity.

This regulating function was ensured in part by the RRM-homodimerization (Sagnol et al., Nucleic Acids Res 2014). In addition, ectopic expression of RBPMS2 in differentiated digestive SMCs hinders their ability to contract, induces their proliferation and leads to their dedifferentiation.

We are now interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms controlled by RBPMS2 , how the dynamic expression of RBPMS2 is regulated and how RBPMS2 protein supramolecular organization and posttranslational modification can affect RBPMS2 activity during these processes (read more).
